Dateman
Books is a family run business headed by Terry & Anne
Neville and based in the North Somerset village of Kewstoke,
just outside Weston-Super-Mare.
Founded to undertake the hand binding of individual (or
short run) books, novels, family histories etc., they
turned their attention, in 2005, to the world of miniature
books for collectors and dollshouses and now produce around
over 250 titles in two sizes and in two binding styles.
Please note we no longer undertake Bespoke Bookbinding
commisions.
Miniature Books: All our miniature books are REAL BOOKS.
They are printed on both sides of the page with a readable
extract from the actual book being portrayed. They are
then sewn and hand bound using traditional materials and
methods into REAL BOOKS in MINIATURE. Except where otherwise
stated our books come in two sizes, both 1/12th scale
but representing either a large book or a small (novel)
sized book.
Size
A books are 2.9cm high
Size B are 2cm high

All our books (unless otherwise stated) are available in
our standard binding complete with a coloured dust jacket.
Titles which were originally published during the reign
of Queen Victoria or earlier (prior to 1901) are now also
available in our CLASSIC binding which replicates the leather
bindings of the period. Each book in this series is dated
so those who wish to have books from a given period can
choose those most suitable.
We also produce a range of deluxe books including our Forever
Young range of children’s books. These are either
facsimiles of original books (mostly illustrated) or specially
prepared illustrated books covering specific subjects. These
books have printed covers either representing the original
cover or the subject of the book.

In
2008 we obtained our first licence for the use of copyright material
in our miniature books. Copyright in Europe and most of the world,
extends for 70 years from the death of the author which means
that many well loved books are not available for reproduction
in miniature. To overcome this we have been able to purchase licenses
to use some of this material in our range. We currently have licenses
to produce miniature versions of the popular Rupert Bear Annuals,
and the classic Boys comic from the 1960`s The Eagle. Full Details
can be seen by clicking the "Classic Annuals" link.
Continuing in this direction we have now launched our “Modern
Classic” range. In colaboration with The Ian Fleming Foundation,
the entire Ian Fleming catalogue of James Bond novels, together
with his only children`s bood “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang have
been miniaturised. We have also added Works from Agatha Christie
and Daphne du Maurier. To order this book please click on the
Modern Classic link.
